Candidates who apply for this position may be hired as a Police Officer I, II, or III based on experience. Candidates must upload a copy of their resume and Utah National Police Officer Selection Test (NPOST) scores to their online application to be eligible for this position. If you have not already taken the NPOST exam please do so immediately. Passing NPOST results will be required at the time of application and must be uploaded to your online application. Incumbents perform duties that consist primarily of actively preventing or detecting crime, providing security, community protection, and enforcement of criminal statutes or ordinances. Responds to situations involving threats to public safety and makes emergency decisions affecting the lives and health of others, including in circumstances and at times when personal life or personal safety may be at risk.
Incumbents who are classified at this level possess extensive knowledge of civic and criminal laws, ordinances, and regulations; law enforcement principles, practices and procedures; ability to mentor and train less experienced police officers.
