  • Overview

    This job is designed to provide students with paid professional experience to further their education and training and is academically oriented for the student’s benefit.   To qualify students must be enrolled in an accredited school program related to the type of work they are expected to perform. Positions will terminate upon completion of the internship period. Incumbents may deal with confidential information, which is expected to be maintained as confidential and shared only on a need-to-know basis with city employees and elsewhere when authorized by the intern’s city supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    • Study and design work projects

    • Work with senior designers and design teams to solve engineering problems and produce high quality design documents

    • Field construction observation

    • Environmental related field work

    • Preparation and checking of design computations and quantity estimates Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, though summer internships may not require concurrent enrollment if student is in good standing with the educational institution. 
    • Must have attained a minimum status of a college Junior

    • Must be actively pursuing a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

    • Working knowledge of Arc GIS or AutoCAD software

    • Possess experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) 

    • Previous experience with engineering design and analysis software is a plus

    • Must possess solid writing skills

    • Candidate must be the greater Salt Lake City area

    • Possess valid Driver License
