  • Overview

    Performs at skilled or semi-skilled level in one or more craft or building trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, cement masonry, dry wall, machining, roofing, welding, electrical or other recognized craft trade. May serve as lead worker over seasonal, hourly or training crews.  Does not work in a single craft specialty more than 50 percent of the time.


    Position will remain open until filled. May close at any time without notice. 


    • Performs at skilled or semi-skilled level painting, carpentry and various other building trades crafts as noted in SUMMARY above, for the general maintenance, repair, remodeling or new construction of city owned buildings or facilities. May serve as lead worker over seasonal, hourly or training crews.
    • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings and diagrams, job orders and various plans as required performing assigned tasks.
    • Operates equipment and hand or power tools, and performs those tasks which may be required to complete projects, including preparation and cleanup responsibilities.
    • Operates heavy equipment, snowplows, blowers, backhoes, or other similar equipment as needed to perform the responsibilities of the position or in emergency situations.
    • Performs related duties as required.


    • Two years’ post high school study in a recognized trade school or program, plus three years’ paid related experience. Experience and education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 
    • Knowledge of the methods, tools and materials used by a maintenance generalist.
    • Ability to operate the various hand and power tools used by a maintenance generalist.   Ability to operate heavy equipment may be required.
    • Possession of a valid Utah State Commercial Driver's License, Class B may be required.
