The Human Resources Department is expanding! We are looking for an Employee Benefits Supervisor to supervisor and support the day to day activities of employees in the Human Resources Benefits Division. This position is responsible for administering the City's Employee Benefits Programs for active employees and their eligible family members or other programs as assigned. These programs include multiple self-insured and fully insured health, welfare, and voluntary benefit programs.


Programs may include, but are not limited to the following:


Health Care Programs - Medical, Behavioral Health, Prescription Drug, Dental, Vision Care, Employee Assistance, Health and Flex Spend Accounts, Post-Employment Health Reimbursement Accounts, and Wellness programs.


Welfare Benefit Programs - Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, Commuter programs, Short Term Disability Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance, and other administration related duties.


Voluntary Benefit Programs - Vison Care (VSP), Hyatt Legal, Accident Insurance (MetLife), Critical Illness (MetLife), Hospital Indemnity (MetLife), Auto and Home Insurance (MetLife, Liberty Mutual/Travelers), Discount Shopping, Financial Wellness (OwnX), Identity Theft Protection (LifeLock), Pet Insurance (VPI), Short-Term Loans (Kashable), and Hearing Care (Hearing Care Solutions).

  • Supervises assigned personnel including determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring, and evaluating performance, and assisting in the hiring and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Assists in creating benefits related marketing and communications needs.
  • Assists with administration of several employee group self-insured and fully- insured benefits programs and services’ operations, including but not limited to vendor relationships, eligibility, enrollment, billing, customer service and communications.
  • Administration of benefits for internal parties, provides guidance to departments, divisions and employees regarding policy and self-insured and fully insured plan design interpretation.
  • Develops and maintains assigned vendor relationships, including assisting with vendor system administration Assists, creates, and interprets benefits plan documents and plan designs.
  • Creates, attends, and facilitates presentations to employee groups.
  • Performs similar tasks as employees in assigned division(s).
  • Creates a positive environment, evaluates group processes, recommends solutions or alternatives. Develops or modifies business processes, policies, or standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, or related field, plus four years of professional human resource experience and experience in functional area of expertise. Related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. A master’s degree in a related field or Human Resources Certification (PHR) or (SHRM-CP) may be substituted for two years of education or experience.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of human resource policies and procedures with a thorough knowledge of laws, policies, and practices in the area of specialization required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
